A popular and well loved ballet teacher and adjudicator Principal Lydia Cagney Morris has been involved in dance for 40 years.
Lydia started her early dance training in the R.A.D Ballet syllabus in Ulverstone, Tasmania.
After moving to Victoria in 1977 she then studied the Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus to status teacher level also studying the Imperial Society Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabus in Tap and Modern to major examination level.
Lydia has a Bachelor of Arts in Performance Studies (Dance & Drama) from Victoria University of Technology and is a qualified teacher with the Cecchetti Society of Australia. She has gained her Cecchetti Associate,
Associate Diploma & Licentiate status examinations and in 2016 gained her
Cecchetti Licentiate Diploma in Anatomy and Ballet History.
Lydia has presented at various Australian fitness conferences Sportscoach, NETWORK Australia and VICSWIM on the topic of aquatic rehabilitation for dancers and has been published in Dancetrain Magazine on the topic of dance nutrition.
She has been the state organiser of the Cecchetti Ballet Victoria’s Choreographic Competition since 2003 and developed her own unique Early Childhood Dance program ‘Fancy Pants Dance’ in 2017.
In 2014 she also completed a Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management- CUA50311 with the A.T.O.D- Australian Teachers of Dancing.
In addition to her dance teaching work Lydia has adjudicated Dance,Speech and Drama all over Australia and New Zealand since the year 2000
This includes competitions as far away as Rotorua,Brisbane,Adelaide, Taree,Blenheim,Alice Springs,Perth,Hobart,Christchurch and many more.
Previously a dance a teacher at the MLC-Methodist Ladies College in Kew Lydia also trained as a W.A.G Beginner Gymnastics Coach in 2019 at Waverley Gymnastics in Melbourne.
In 2018 Lydia completed a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and is currently studying a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and wokring towards gaining her Cecchetti Fellowship qualification.
In addition to these studies she works as a Kindergarten educator.
